87' Sammy doesn't wanna die!!!

I have a sammy that won't shut off with the key!!! It starts perfectly fine and runs great, but won't die when I turn the key. When the engine is running I can unplug the actual ignition itself and still nothing. Also, when the engine is NOT running and with key in the ON position, I have power to coil. When the key is OFF, I have no power to coil. Only have constant power to coil when engine is running which leads me to believe something went heywire in the harness and am getting a direct connect from the alternator. Any help is gladly appreciated! Thanks!!

Sounds like i would be looking for a short in the wiring .....

if you have the alt connections backwards on a gm alt it will do this. (the 2 small wires)
