Default I got the parts now what??

I bought a Dana 300 and a SM420. Also a D-30 front axle and a d-44 rear axle from a CJ with disc brakes. This is the first time I've done this sort of thing so I was hoping someone might know. Doing a transmission/transfer case/ axle swap. I'm ordering a adapter from Novak for the transmission/transfer case. After I get that and set them in the jeep I'm going to have to do something with the drive shafts. But my question is what else do I need to make this work? The reason I ask is I originally planned to keep the D-20 and I heard something about changing the front yoke or something along those lines. Does that hold true for the D300 as well or is there more? I hope this makes sense, for me this is like trying to describe what the center of the earth looks like.

You won't need to switch out yokes on the D300. The D300 already has yokes in it for the 1310 u-joints. However, the D300 yokes are strap style instead of ubolt style. I have heard that this is not as strong, but can easily be switched out by changing yokes. I have the strap style on mine right now and have not had problems in my limited use. I do have the 225 though so not an SBC or other V8 to deal with.

I think you can drill out the threads in the yokes and use the u bolts too. Saves the cost of buying a new yoke.

The strap yokes are the only reason I was worried about the D300. When I was in college I had a 80 CJ7. After a few weeks of driving it like a sports car I broke the little bolts that hold on the strap at the drive thru at McDonalds. I never broke anything out on the trial but as always worried that the strap bolts would go again. I like the idea of drilling out the yokes to house the ubolts. I've decided to keep the 231 in the jeepster so I'm not as worried about the over powering of anything.
