Default maybe off topic? amplifier in cherokee

im changing my stereo cause the cd dont work, and i might put in a amp. now i dont want to take up floor space, would i be able to mount it upside down on the headliner, mounted to any steel bracket that is there of course, right in front of my sound bar? or in the middle of the sound bar? the guy at circuit city said under the back seat, but there isnt any room under there. unless they make palm size amps.lol

There is plenty of room for an amp under the back seat, unless your one of those kiddies that thinks he has to have 10000 watts of stereo power blowing peoples hearing in the vehicles next to you, in which case you better go to moronicsoundsystem.com. I like my music cranked when I am at a party, but I like to be able to hear when the fire enginees are about to run ya over when I am driving down the street, so I might be able to get the heck outta their way. Don't laugh either, I am serious, almost got killed once years ago because I had my music cranked so loud I didn't hear the police 4x4 that damn near hit me broadside in the drivers door as I pulled out onto a street posted 25 mph, he had to have been doing better than 50 when he swerved and skided around the front of my car The only real pleasure I derived from that moment in my life, after getting the seat pulled outta my a$$ (can you say pucker factor) was that that cop most likely had to go change his drawers too, I saw the look of terror in his face as he skidded by, believe me, it wasn't funny at the time.

Put it under the passengers front seat, plenty of room and good air flow.

I've had my 1200 watt amp under the rear seat of the cherokee for a good 10 months now. Never overheated, never been damaged, works just fine. A buddy of mine thought he wouldn't get enough flow, so he put an external computer fan on top of the amplifier fan and wired it into the remote wire, so it turned on whenever the radio turned on. Works just fine, but basically unneccesary. The only problem I have is trying to still make the rear access area useful while still having the sub box...thinking about changing to a truck box to increase storage room. I agree with Kraby, i only listen to loud music to show off to friends in a parking lot, or at a back-woods party and people want to hear it when we are playin football in a field. Seen too many times where people would have loud music, and and they've almost gotten crushed because they couldnt hear the wailing, and happened to me once.

While driving the Ram 3500 Dually, V10, straight piped tanker truck (I'm a volunteer fireman) into the city to a fire, some young guy in a little Honda CRX with stupid graphics and loud speakers didn't hear the sirens or the pipes, so I had to take the curb in the middle of a 4 lane street in a 11,000 lb truck..clipped him with the rear bumper...he learned his lesson after he tried to sue the fire dept. and lost horribly....little off topic, but is good advice to keep the music down while driving...

i dont know, i pulled up that seat and the bottom of the seat was sealed off with cloth and the floor just kinda narrowed down about 2 inches and it looks like its just about 5 inches wide. my bottle jack just fits in there. if i put in a amp,it'll only be like 100 watts or so. thats all i need. maybe under the passenger seat.

When I had my Cherokee I used a Bazooka mounted length-ways behind the rear seat. Then I pulled the 12" Kicker out of my Z-28 mounted it in place of the Bazooka and placed a 300:1 mono block amp in the floor behind the drivers seat. I never really got in the way for me but then nobody ever really rode in the back seat of the Jeep.
I have that same set-up in my 05 now and it works out just fine.
You could also just mount the amp to the back of your rear seat close to the floor.
