74 ford F250 390 won\'t start

I Just bought a 1974 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT i has a Ford 390 with points and a holley carb from factory.It will not Start and i have replaced the coil,spark plug wires,spark plugs,voltage regulator and the silinoid. It had no spark to the plugs so i ran a jumper wire from the battery to the coil. it gets spark but my points actually heated up and melted.[list] <font color="yellow"> </font>
