Default Re: chopping a ranger

I have an 87 ranger body on an 85 bronco II frame and may be able to offer some suggestions during your build. I have built several of these vehicles, and really like the look of the shortened ranger. Other than chopping the box there really isn't much to it. You will have to relocate the fuel filler when welding the box. I welded capped c-channel to the frame to mount the body, and put an extra c-channel crossmember between the frame rails under the back of the cab to take out some of the body-ripping twisting that these things suffer from in hardcore use. you can e-mail me if you have any questions. one more thing i learned is not to tell the insurance that it is now a four wheel drive, when you give them the 2 wheel ranger vin, let em think it's a 2wd (uncut)ranger. Good luck.
