Default Question about tire size limits on 1500 4x4 Ram

Thanks for taking a look. I have a 2005 1500 Ram SLT 4x4 Quad Cab. It came with the 20 inch wheel package which is ok if you don't want to off road. Why they put 20's on a 4x4 confuses me? Anyways, I did a 2 inch torsion lift and was wondering if I went to a 16 or 17inch wheel would I have any problem fitting 35's on there? Or do I need more lift so I don't rub? Thanks for your help.

I have the same truck and I cranked up the torsion bar and fit 35x12.5R20 Toyo M/T's and had no problems until I took it off road! To cure the wheel clearance problem I put a 3" Sky Jacker add-a-leaf and a 2.5" front leveling kit on and now I have no problems at all! 20" with the Toyo mud tires looks sick and has no problems on the rocks, as long as your not heavy on the pedal blasting through the rocks, and if you have the money for 20" mud tires because they are $$$!!!

16's and 17's won't fit because the dics brakes are too big! You have to do 18's! So you might as well stay with the 20"

Ok I am a newby because I was told that 17's would fit! At least I can admit I was wrong!
