Chugger is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Piston Deck Height, FJ-62

I just purchased a FJ-62 knowing that it had water in the oil. It is a 2-year-old Man-a Fre 3FE Hi Performance Rebuild with 7,000 miles. I thought it was a gasket and when I pulled it apart I found it was. I also found that the casting numbers of the piston, which water was leaking into, had imprinted itself on the head. I also found other pistons with impressions of the ledge of the head on them. Nothing real damaging on the pistons, just an edge the shape of the cylinder head that I could feel with my fingernail. I measured the piston height from the deck of the block and it was .027-.030”. The gasket measured .047” and the pistons are dome. Does a piston height of .027-.030” seem right? I bought a Fel-Pro gasket but I am worried that it might be thinner then the one I am replacing. Does anyone know what the compression thickness of a Fel-Pro head gasket?
