I have a friend who runs 35's on his 05. He did not regear. He said I would need to regear due to I pull a boat. I would look at 4wheel drive parts. They have a gear chart the 06 came with 3.73 I would go with a 4.27 that would put you in the same ball park. If your 4wd dont forget the front also. As far as the speed I don't know how it works but superlift makes a truspeed product that recalibrates your speedometer. I would regear anyway to keep less stress with those bigger tires.
Hope this helps.
Jeff

sorry to break the news but as far as i know they are not making any gears for the new 05 and newer tacomas yet. But depending on the stock gearing the 4.88's with 35's would bring you close to stock speed.

I have the Superlift Speedometer recalibration unit installed in my '01 Tacoma since i have 34" tires and it is spot on according to my GPS!
Since it wires between the transmission & CPU i think it even helps with the shift points, but that is just a guess.
I have had this installed for about 3yrs. It is adjustable and can be calibrated for most tires.
It wasn't cheap though at $150, but less than regearing the front & rear!
