Hey guys,
I am 27 and have been riding off road for about 10 years having started from a KX80, DT50, XR600, XR250, DRZ400E and am currently riding an XR400. My problem is that I have realized that my off road riding skills are not improving although I try to ride as much as possible and try note if my riding is getting any faster. I use the XR on the road daily and try to use as much veld possible to get to where I’m going and try ride every weekend. I enjoy riding, but am getting frustrated with my somewhat hesitant riding technique (mainly only when I don’t know what’s ahead on a new route). I have a cousin, 31, that has been riding all his life and was brought up in Newcastle, Natal (bush heaven). He rides an XR200 and not only does he ride faster than me on the slower (although lighter) bike, he makes it seem very effortless, where in my case, if I want to go fast, I feel nervous and hesitant. Although I keep up when I have to, it probably ‘looks’ better than I am actually feeling at that moment .
Would a riding academy help me to build confidence and speed?
Any advice? Thanks in advance Regards McGav
