Promoting Fraud in the Industry! Exhibit B Why only $500 paid? That is the issue; these promoters feel they don’t owe racers an explanation for purse cuts, after the race. Not all promoters are committing this fraud, but to those who are and getting ink for doing so should be shunned from racers. They are receiving ink and making racers look like bad.
Exhibit B
Worcs Series Round 13
Nov 15-16, 2003 Cooperland
Promoter, Dave Hamel
Advertised Pro MC Purses: $10,000 GUARANTEED AT GLEN HELEN, OCALA, COOPERLAND
Cooperland purse was cut in half! Also advertised The Richest Off Road Series in The World!
Why was this purse cut? Because he had some small print somewhere with a rider amount field. Never seen it. Note: The small print was NOT printed below all the $10,000 guaranteed purse blasting.
These promoters, clubs, and sanctioning bodies throw large numbers to get racers there and after racers show up, they decide they have the power to cut, and dig up some small print somewhere other than where the large purse amount was advertised.
Racers are in a situation where they cannot make waves for this, they will be outlawed and risks cutting their own purse for next time by offending a fraud promoter.
Promoting is a risk, just as racing is! In different aspects: Racers are putting their health, lives, and bank accounts on the line. Promoters, clubs, and sanctioning bodies are putting only their bank account on the line. Well… some are, some are not! And to those who are cutting purses and not paying a purse worth racing for should be taken off a racers schedule. |
