Default ML\'s do go off-roading

Yes...I own an ML and go off-roading.
While it's not rockcrawling...it is off-roading.

I do agree that the vast majority of ML owners and other so called SUV's/4x4's never have and never will take their truck off-road. Not to mention, the vehicles are not very capable.

While my ML does not have great articulation, with larger tires I have over 11 inches of clearance, which is more than LR Discovery's. The ML has low range and active locking differentials. Not true lockers, but it's the same thing in Land Rovers and Range Rovers. So it can't be too bad.

It's not the best rig, but it's not the worst.

I was at one point a factory trained mb tech. The ML is a solid piece, it'll never be a rockcrawler, but as a basic overland expeditionary vehicle it's very good. If you can put up with some of the silly convenience issues (window switches, fuel guage/pump, crazy cats) it shouldnt leave you stuck. And you'll be the safest SUV on the road.

I say just wheel it, no matter what it is. Tow straps, a lack of fear, and a buddy can overcome 90% of all obstacles.

nah - his username says it all: just another loudmouth 'sounding off'.

Deckowski - dont know if you can read German, but there's a few ML owners groups in Germany with info and 'how to's' on gearing, lifts, etc..if you're interested.
